Scuttling the Navy August 29, 1943:
Coast Defense Ship
PEDER SKRAM
The coast defense ship
PEDER SKRAM was laying next to the old Rigging
Shears, as a floating headquarters for the Coastal Navy.
The ship, which
was without its assigned crew, was scuttled by opening the sea cocks.
It was
subsequently towed to Germany, where is served as a training and
flak ship under the name ADLER.
In April, 1945, the ship was sunk by
allied air attacks in the Kieler Fiord.
After the end of the war,
PEDER SKRAM was raised and towed back to
Copenhagen, where it remained until it was sold for scrap in 1949.
