Scuttling the Navy August 29, 1943:Minelayer LOUGENBy Søren Nørby, arts studentThe minelayer Lougen was torched and scuttled at the Royal Dockyard on August 29th. It was raised on September 20th, but the Germans made no attempt to repair the ship. The Danes found Lougen at the Royal Dockyard in May, 1945 with wrecked engines. It was subsequently repaired, and served in the Danish navy until 1974.
