1st

1955

The Klaksvig Incident
The frigate ROLF KRAKE, together with the cutters SKARVEN and ERTHOLM arrives at Klaksvig, The Faeroe Islands, bringing 30 police officers to the area, where local disturbances had occurred.
ROLF KRAKE is stationed at Klaksvig until November 1955, when it's released by the frigate HOLGER DANSKE, commanded by Commander s.g. Ivar Hoppe.

2nd

1962

Naval Base FREDERIKSHAVN is established.

4th

1710

The ship-of-the-line DANNEBROG, commanded by Captain Iver Huitfeldt, blew up engaged in the battle in the bay of Køge.
The Captain's body is later recovered, washed up on the shore at Køge

9th

1916

The first Danish submarine, DYKKEREN, commanded by Lieutenant Svend Aa. Christiansen, is ran into by a Norwegian freighter and sank in the Sound, while on a submerged training exercise.
The commander drowns, while the rest of the crew are saved.

12th

1939

The first specially designed school for the Naval Cadets is taken over at the Naval Dockyard in Copenhagen. Captain Christian V. Evers becomes the first commander.
The building at Nyboder, used as school since 1869, was being transferred to the Treasure Department.

15th

1950

The Survey Ship GALATHEA, Commander s.g. Carl H. A. Madsen, leaves Copenhagen for a deep sea exploration around the world.
GALATHEA is back in Copenhagen on June 29, 1952.
(From February 13, 1951 the frigate is commanded by Captain Svend B. V. J. Greve).

19th

1845

A naval landing party detached from the brig ØRNEN, and commanded by Sub Lieutenant  O. C. Hammer, relieves and liberates the fortress Prinsensten in Danish Guinea exposed to attacks from local tribes.

19th

1914

The submarine HAVMANDEN, Commander Schaffalitzky de Muckadell, is by mistake fired at with torpedoes from the British submarine  E.11 off Nakkehoved.

19th

1962

The old heavy frigate FYEN, now used as stationary barracks, is sold for scrapping.
The frigate was built in 1882 and became the last major sail rigged warship; since 1907 it was only used (decommissioned) as barracks at the Naval Dockyard in Copenhagen. (See September 27, as well).

20th

1808

21 gunboats, commanded by Captain Johan C. Krieger, attacks a British convoy in the southern part of the Sound. The convoy consisting of 137 ships is escorted by the ship-of-line AFRICA, 1 bombardment ship and 2 brigs.
AFRICA escapes, but is severely damaged.

21st

1807

The Grand Naval Theft
- 16 ships-of-the-line, 15 frigates and corvettes, 14 smaller vessels, together with 92 merchant ships, loaded with naval equipment, leaves Copenhagen, flying the British flag, following the capitulation to the British forces on September 6, 1807.

22nd

2004

The minelayers MØEN, LINDORMEN and LOSSEN are decommissioned marking the end of an era with dedicated minelayers in the Danish Navy.

24th

1808

The fortress at Christiansoe under Commander Kohl, beats off an attack performed by a British squadron of 2 ships- of-line and 6 frigates.

24th

1945

Denmark enters the United Nation (UN).

27th

1871

The Navy issue an order, stating that all subordinates are to be addressed "You".
