1536

HM King Christian the IIIrd  proclaims the first Naval War Articles.

1st

1810

The brig LOUGEN, Lieutenant Commander Jochum N. Müller, and the brig LANGELAND, Lieutenant Thomas Lütken, together with 3 schooners, commanded by Lieutenant Broder Wigelsen arrives Trondhjem, Norway, following a successful expedition to the Northern Atlantic, bringing 11 large prizes.

1939

The armed forces are partly mobilized, and the navy are equipped for war time duties, following the outbreak of the 2nd World War.

2nd

1807

The British start  5 days bombardments of the Danish capital, Copenhagen

1809

The gunboat flotilla from Fladstrand, Northern Jutland, commanded by Lieutenant Nicolai H. Tuxen conquers the British brig THE MINX, that were stationed as a light ship off Skagen Reef.

2nd

1811

The brigs LOLLAND, SAMSØ and ALSEN, commanded by Commander Hans P. Holm, attacks 2 British brigs off Mandal in Norway; the British brig MANDAL is conquered.

3rd

1813

6 cannon shallops, under Lieutenant Martinus C. Klaumann, en route on the Eider to reinforce the naval forces at Glückstadt, had to fight their way through a British blockade, consisting of 13 gunboats and 4 armed shallops.
2 British gunboats are sunk.

4th

1807

The island of Heligoland is occupied by British forces; and the island is surrendered to England January 14, 1814.
(The British sells the island to Germany July 1, 1890).

1957

The torpedo boats FLYVEFISKEN and HØGEN (ex. T 55) collides during an exercise in the Storebælt.
The torpedo boat HØGEN sank immediately; while the FLYVEFISKEN, heavily damaged, was towed to Korsoer tied alongside the frigate ROLF KRAKE.

5th

1619

The Naval Church. the church on Bremerholm in the center of Copenhagen (later named Holmens kirke), is inaugurated by Bishop of Zealand.
(In 1641 the church was rebuilt to its present appearance.)

6th

1982

Missile Incident at Lumsaas
The frigate PEDER SKRAM, commanded by commander s.g. Jens L. Winther, accidentally launches a HARPOON missile. The SSM missile strikes a residential area close to Lumsaas in North Western Zealand.
Fortunately, no people are injured.

7th

1807

Copenhagen capitulates to British forces 5 nights of heavy terror bombardments (rockets etc.) to the city.
As part of the capitulation the Danish had to deliver the fleet and all of its equipment to the British.

9th

1970

The submarine NARHVALEN, commanded by Lieutenant Commander Peer Rasmussen, is reported missing in the Skagerak after missing radio check.
SUBMISS is established, and a large number of ships, aircrafts and helicopters start a search for the missing sub.
The missing sub is located by the tender HENRIK GERNER at around 5 o'clock in the morning on September 5.

1991

The offshore patrol frigate THETIS reaches the position 79o29' North; which is the most northern spot that any Danish warship had ever reached at the East coast of Greenland.

12th

1810

6 gunboats, commanded by Lieutenant Jørgen C. de Falsen, conquers the British 12-guns cutter ALBAN off the island of Læsø in the Kattegat.

1990

Operation FARAWAY
The corvette OLFERT FISCHER, Commander Henrik M. Elbro, departs Holmen in Copenhagen to join the UN embargo against Iraq in the Persian Gulf.
The corvette returned to Holmen September 15, 1991.

13th

1909

The first Danish submarine, the newly built  DYKKEREN, arrives Copenhagen from Italy.
Commissioned October 2, 1909, appointing Lieutenant Oluf Aarestrup the first commander.

14th

2006

The Danish Parliament resolves Resolution # B 146 comitting the Royal Danish Navy to take part in the naval part of the expanded UN operations off Lebanon (UNIFIL).
The Danish contribution will be one corvette of the NIELS JUEL Class and 1-2 patrol vessels of the FLYVEFISKEN Class.

1923

The Naval Air Service is established as a separate command, commanded by Commander Asger E. V. Grandjean.

2008

The Danish Task Group on board the command and support ship ABSALON takes command of the multinational naval group, Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150), off the Horn of Africa and part of the Indian Ocean.
The command is planned to be last until January 12, 2009.

16th

1850

The paddle steamer GEJSER, Commander Jørgen P. F. Wulff, and a flotilla of cannon shallops, commanded by Commander s.g. Carl Ludvig von Ellbrecht attacks and drive out the rebellion steam ship KIEL and 3 gun boats, thereafter occupying Føhr.

17th

1784

Søe-Lieutenant-Selskabet (The Naval Lieutenants Association) is inaugurated, and Lieutenant  Hans C. Sneedorff becomes the first chairman.

17th

1838

The frigate ROTA, Commander Hans Birch Dahlerup, anchors outside Copenhagen, bringing the sculptor Thorvaldsen and his collection of sculptures to Copenhagen from Italy.

17th

1878

The first Danish torpedo boat flotilla, composted of the steam shallops no. 1, 2 and 3 is commissioned. The shallops are equipped with torpedo launchers. Lieutenant Sigurd Bojesen is assigned the first commander.
Following a resolution of February 15, 1879, from the Department of the Navy the shallops are equipped with torpedo launching tubes, and renamed Torpedo Boat No. 1, 2 and 3.

1748

The builder Philip de Lange's drawings for a mast crane on Nyholm, Copenhagen is approved by royal resolution.
The crane ("Nyholm's Mastekran" or just "Mastekranen") is completed in 1751.

1921

Crown Prince Frederik, the later King Frederik the IXth, is promoted Sub Lieutenant after graduating from the Naval Academy, thereby becoming the first Danish crown prince, who has completed the full navy training.

22nd

1944

The Danish Flotilla
The Danish Flotilla is established in Karlskrona, Sweden, as part of The Danish Brigade.
Commander Johannes H. J. Jegstrup is appointed flotilla commander. The flotilla is composted of the ships, that managed to escape to Sweden following the German attack on the Danish Navy, August 29, 1943.
The patrol boat HAVKATTEN, Lieutenant Commander Poul Würtz, is assigned as Command Ship.

27th

1882

The navy's last major sail rigged warship, the heavy frigate FYEN, is launched.

29th

1979

The submarine SPRINGEREN, during overhaul at the Naval Dockyard in Copenhagen, is partly filled with water, due to an open hydrant.

30th

1812

HM the Kings Sword of Honor is instituted by HM Kong Frederik the VIth, and will be awarded to best graduate of the Naval Cadets.

30th

1901

The gunboat MØEN, Commander Rørdam H. Kjølsen, explodes in the Sound, following new trials with explosive shells.
