Danish/Dutch navy of 25 ships-of-the-line, 10 frigates and some minor ships,
commanded by the Dutch General Admiral Tromp and Admiral Niels Juel, beats
off Oland, Sweden, a Swedish force of 27 ships-of-the-line, 11 frigates and
some minor ships, commanded by Admiral Lorentz Creutz. |

Østersøeskadren
(The Baltic Squadron) of 10 ships-of-the-line and 3 frigates, commanded by
Admiral Niels Juel, beats a Swedish squadron off Moen. The Swedish squadron,
commanded by Admiral Sjöblad, consisted of 7 ships-of-the-line, 2 frigates
and 2 armed cutters. |

The
Royal Danish Navy Tactical Command is established in Aarhus, Jutland |

1808 |
4
gunboats, commanded by Lieutenant Christian Wulff, conquers the British
brig THE TICKLER off Taars. |

1824 |
The
Danish Navy's first steamship, the paddle steamer KIEL, arrives
Copenhagen from England. |

1849 |
The
corvette VALKYRIEN, Commander Andreas Polder, and the paddle steamer GEJSER,
Lieutenant Commander Jørgen P. F. Wulff, of the Nordsøeskadren (North
Sea Squadron), attacks off Heligoland 3 Schleswig-Holstein naval paddle
steamers, commanded by Rear Admiral Bromme.
The enemy is chased until
Cuxhafen. |

1555 |
King Christian the 3rd's Naval War Articles ("søkrigsartikler") are uphold
and the swearing-in is inaugurated
(repealed in 1909). |

1849 |
Denmark's new Constitution is passed
- As a result of the new Constitution, conscription is introduced in the
Navy.
The Admiral's Board ("Kollegialstyrelsen") is abolished and Department of
the Navy is established. |

1987 |
The
offshore patrol frigate
HVIDBJØRNEN and
BESKYTTEREN together
with the arctic cutter
AGPA are representing the Fishery Patrol
Squadron at the celebration in Copenhagen of the 400-years jubilee of the
naval fishery inspection service. |

gunboats and 12 mortar shallops, commanded by Commander s.g. Johan C.
Krieger, attacks a British escorted convoy in the southern part of the
Sound.
The British brig TURBULENT and 11 merchant ships are conquered. |
15th |
1219 |
Valdemar's day
- Fleet of around 1,000 ships and 30,000 men under King Valdemar Sejr
conquers Estonia.
According to the legend, the DANNEBROG floated down from the sky during the
battle at Lyndanisse outside Reval.
The Colors were later use in the Navy as the Naval Ensign.

The
corvette
GALATHEA, Commander Steen Bille, is starting a voyage around
the globe to promote trade and scientific research etc.
The corvette returned in August 1847. |
19th |
1808 |
The brig LOUGEN, Lieutenant Peter F. Wulff, and 4 gunboats under
command of Sub Lieutenant Fønss conquers the British brig
SEAGULL off Flekkerø in Norway. |
20th |
1995 |
The
Minelayer MØEN participates in the naval review to celebrate the 100
years jubilee of the Nord-Ostsee-kanal ("Kieler-kanalen"). |
22nd |
1743 |
Orders are issued, that all naval commanders shall fly the Naval
Pennant as Colors of Command. Previously list was only done by naval
commanders with the rank of Captain or Commander s.g. |
25th |
1862 |
Our first armored ship, the armored schooner
ABSALON arrives
Copenhagen after being built in England. The ship was commanded by
Lieutenant Johan P. Schultz. |
28th |
1849 |
The
brig ST. CROIX, Lieutenant Commander Peter C. Holm, on blockade in
the Baltic, fights the Prussian paddle steamer PREUSSISCHER ADLER,
Commodore Schroeder, off Hela in the Bay of Danzig. |

1944 |
The
British Minesweepers ME 263 og ME 307, Lieutenant Commander
Hans U. C. F. Garde, are manned with Danish crews, and flying 2 flags,
"Orlogsflaget" (the Danish Naval Ensign) and the British White Ensign. |

1811 |

gunboats, commanded by Lieutenant Broder K. B. Wigelsen conquers the
British brig SAFEGUARD off Randers fjord. |
30th |
1849 |
Commanded by Commander Peter W. Tegner, the Naval Transportation Command
succeeds in transferring General Rye's Army Corps from Helgenæs til
Fredericia, Jutland.
They also manage to transport army units from Als, and on July 4 from Funen
to Fredericia, thereby contributing to the victorious outbreak from the
stronghold at Fredericia July 6, 1849. |
30th |
1965 |
During fishery protection patrol off the Vest coast of Jutland; a boarding
team of 2 sailors, from the patrol boat HAVFRUEN, are kidnapped by a
German trawler doing illegal fishing.
Warning shots are fired during the chase. The two kidnapped sailors are
released in a German port at the island of Sild. |
