 In front are the two D Class subs,
DRYADEN to the right and DAPHNE.
Behind are 2 subs of the C Class (BELLONA in front), and in the background one could catch a glimpse og 2 subs of the B Class.

Comments to the Class

The torpedo armament with 6 torpedo tubes was quite heavy for a submarine of this size, and the planed armament raised a lot of skepticism among submarine designers abroad.

The torpedo tubes in the stern where placed outside the pressure hull and could only be reloaded on the surface.

Additional Notes

Both subs were shuttled in Copenhagen on August 29, 1943. Later salvaged, but not in service with the Germans.

Located at Holmen in May 1945, but further repair was abandoned. Both subs were sold for scrapping in November, 1946.
