2nd

1808

16 gunboats, commanded by Lieutenant Commander Ulrich A. Schønheyder, conquers the British brig TIGRESS off the small island of Agersø.

2nd

1812

2 armed schooners, commanded by Sub Lieutenant  Hans Bodenhoff, forestall an attack on Tromsoe, Norway by the British frigate HORATIO; but are conquered by boats from the frigate after heavy losses on both sides, Sub Lieutenant Bodenhoff is seriously wounded.

2nd

1959

A training group composed of the frigates ESBERN SNARE and VALDEMAR SEJR, commanded by Rear Admiral Kaj Lundsteen, visits the Soviet Union as the first Danish naval visit since 1909.

3rd

1857

The Guard Ship Station in the Storebælt (Great Belt) is withdrawn due to the discontinuance of the Sound Dues.

1996

The Danish Chief of Defense, Admiral H. J. Garde, together with his wife, three other officers and an air crew of four, are killed as a RDAF Gulfstream Jet in bad weather conditions collides with a mountain at the Sørvágs Fjord on the Faroe Islands during a landing at the Vagar Airport.

5th

1914

Minefields are established inside the Danish Territorial Waters in the Sound, Great Belt (Storebælt) and Lille Bælt. Light and lighthouses were put out, and seamarks, buoys and beacons were partly withdrawn.
1st Squadron, commanded by Captain Nyholm, are stationed in the Sound and 2nd Squadron, Captain Thomas V. Garde, are stationed in Storebælt; while a few ships are stationed in Lille Bælt etc.

7th

1922

By confirmation of the Naval Act ("Søværnsloven"), the navy is divided into Divisions ("Divisioner"). The for naval ranks of kommandørkaptajn (Commander s.g.), orlogskaptajn (Commander), kaptajnløjtnant (Lieutenant Commander) and Søløjtnant are reintroduced.

8th

1857

The Guard Ship Station in the Sound (Øresund) is withdrawn due to the discontinuance of the Sound Dues.

9th

1655

The Admirals Board ("Admirals-kollegiet") is established and put together by the Lord Admiral ("Rigsadmiralen"), the Admiral of the Naval Dockyard ("Holmens admiral"), The Vice Admiral, 1 Secretary og 1 Admiralty Council. The Board continued until 1848, when it was replaced by the Department of the Navy ("Marineministeriet").

9th

1808

The brig FAMA, Lieutenant Otto F. Rasch, and the royal yacht SØEORMEN, Sub Lieutenant Tøger Rosenørn, are conquered by 1 British brig, 2 bombardment vessel and 3 gun boats at Nyborg inlet, after a glorious fight.

10th

1809

8 gunboats, commanded by Lieutenant Commander Søren A. Bille conquers the British brig ALLART off Frederiksværk. (The Brig was was delivered to the British by the capitulation of Copenhagen 1807).

1951

The frigate NIELS EBBESEN, Commander s.g. Jørgen T. B. Münther, participates in the hand over of the Naval Station GRONDAL from USA to Denmark.
The name is changed to Naval Station GRØNNEDAL ("Green Valley"), first commander was Commander Knud A. Edvards.

11th

2006

The Off Shore Patrol Frigate VÆDDEREN departs Copenhagen serving as the naval platform for the 3rd Galathea Expedition, circumnavigating the World.

16th

1848

Lieutenant Commander Hendrich Krenchel, commander of the brig ØRNEN,  pass on the ratified peace treaty with Morocco to HM the King.

16th

1850

The paddle steamer HEKLA, Commander Edouard Suensson, of the blockade force outside Kiel,  fights the Schleswig-Holstein steamship LØWE and 4 gunboats in the Kiel inlet.
1 gun boat is set on fire.

17th

1922

The Submarine Division ("Undervandsbådsdivisionen") is established, in accordance with the Naval Act of 1922. First commander will be Commander Henry C. Gad.

18th

1858

The Dry Dock at the Naval Dockyard in Copenhagen is opened in the presence of HM King Frederik VIIth. The frigate SJÆLLAND becomes the first ship to use this dock.

18th

1950

The artic sledge patrol SIRIUS is established. The patrol was originally named Operation RESOLUT, but during the winter of 1953-54, the name was changed to SIRIUS.

19th

1812

14 gunboats, commanded by Lieutenant Jørgen C. de Falsen, conquers the British brig  ATTACK off Grenaa, Jutland.

19th

1915

The British Submarine E.13 destroyed at Saltholm
1st Torpedo boat Flotilla, commanded by Commander Eduard Haack, intervenes and stops the unprovoked German attack on the British submarine E.13 inside Danish Territorial Waters.
The other units of the Danish 1st Squadron, commanded by Captain Thomas V. Garde, follows the event at close distance.

1968

The Danish National Defense is put on a state of high alert ("Forstærket Fredsberedskab"), caused by the Warsaw-pact invasion into Czechoslovakia.

2006

Naval Base Frederikshavn is officially decommissioned and replaced by the Naval Operational Support Center Frederikshavn (OPLOG FRH) under command of the Admiral Danish Fleet.

22nd

1974

Submarine NARHVALEN becomes the first Danish sub to cross the Polar Circle submerged, at 50 meters depth.

2006

Naval Base Korsør is officially decommissioned and replaced by the Naval Operational Support Center Korsør (OPLOG KOR) under command of the Admiral Danish Fleet.

24th

1949

The NATO treaty is ratified by the member countries, and Denmark joins the alliance.

25th

1813

7 gunboats from Brunsbüttel and Glückstadt, commanded by Lieutenant Johan Hedemann fights 11 British gunboats on the Elbe.

27th

1807

A gunboat flotilla, commanded by Lieutenant Christian Wulff, attacks a British battery at  Gl. Pesthus on Kallebodstrand.

29th

1943

Scuttling of the Royal Danish Navy
- 32 ships were scuttled by its own crews, 4 reached Swedish Territorial Waters, 2 ships were at Greenland, while 14 ships and vessels unharmed were taken over taken over by the Germans.
Just 9 of the Naval Cutters made there way to Sweden, while the rest of the totally 59 cutters were captured by the Germans.

30th

1922

The Ships Division ("Skibsdivisionen") is established, in accordance with the Naval Act of 1922, and the Torpedo Boat Division, commanded by Commander Christian A. Broberg, is assigned to the Ships Division. Captain Frederik Cold is appointed first commander of the division.
(The Torpedo Boat Division is again reassigned from the Ships Division October 8, 1924).

31st

1807

A gunboat flotilla, under Commander Frederik Holsten takes part in the outbreak from Classens Have at Copenhagen; the gunboat STUBBEKØBING, Sub Lieutenant Peter U. Brun, went off.

1844

A squadron, composed of the frigates GEFION og THETIS, the paddle steamer HEKLA and the brig MERCURIUS, all commanded by Commander s.g. Hans G. Garde, in cooperation with Norwegian and Swedish naval forces, is forcing the Sultan of Morocco to give up the collection of tributes, which he had practiced since 1768.

31st

1943

The minesweeper MS 1, Lieutenant Urban H. Gad, arrives Trelleborg, Sweden camouflaged as a tug, named SHARA, the sweeper was later renamed SORTE SARA ("Black Sara") on April 1, 1951.
